The Fisheries Society of the British Isles Newsletter Spring 2012

At the time of writing, the 6th World Fisheries Congress is just 3 months away.

This major international meeting is being hosted by the FSBI on behalf of the World Council of Fisheries Societies; it is a huge undertaking for the FSBI and it seems timely and appropriate to report to FSBI members on progress.

 A critical job for the International Programme Committee and for Congrex (the Professional Conference Organisers who are helping to set up and run the meeting) has been to develop the programme of presentations. This has now been finalised; the

Newsletter Editor gives details of its content and structure in his article on page 3. We received a gratifyingly large number of high quality submitted abstracts, which all went through a process of blind review. Given the number and quality of the submissions, the programme of talks was extended by adding one parallel session (making 10 in all) and by continuing the programme into the afternoon of Friday 11th May. This has allowed us to accept some 590 oral and 330 Eposter presentations.
