Running for Africa!
The potential to unlock food resources from fisheries and aquaculture remains an unrealised ambition in Africa where high quality food and nutrition remains a priority.
In recognition of the need for capacity building, the 6th WFC hope to direct funds to support PhD students from Africa working in the area of fisheries who wish to present an oral paper at next year’s meeting. Professor Mike Kaiser (Chair of the 6th WFC scientific steering committee) is running the ‘Ulswater Challenge’ on the 5th November and is hoping to increase the £300 he has already raised to support African students. The trail run covers over 600 m of ascent over 8 miles (13 km). Mike is hoping to complete the course in under 1 h 45 minutes.
